I love the colder months. It’s my favourite time of the year! I can’t wait for December, to eat all the Sinterklaas (Saint Nicholas) candy and to start decorating for Christmas. There’s plenty of festive blog content on its way. But let’s just hold on with the Christmas blog content for just a little bit longer. I thought I’d take you through all of the things that have made me smile lately, before I actually do a dedicated December related one!
10 Things That have made me smile lately
1. Trying out new types of coffee
You probably already know that I’m a huge coffee lover. I love a good cup of freshly brewed coffee, especially now that the days are getting colder. Lately, I have been trying out a few different coffee brands and so far, I’ve been loving every single one of them. Keep your eyes peeled for a coffee related blog post soon!
2. Stranger Things
Okay, I’m definitely not alone in this but I am obsessed with the series Stranger Things. I binged the whole second season in a weekend when it came out a few weeks ago. It is just so good! If you haven’t watched the series yet and you are into a kind of darker, mysterious content, I would recommend you go and watch it now (well, after reading this blog post of course).
3. Dried flowers as autumn decorations
I’ve had my eye on these Dille & Kamille dried flowers for a while as they are always so beautifully stored in their shops. And the other day I finally decided to get a few. I love how they look in my living room, the perfect fall decorations! Plus they last longer than regular flowers and you don’t need to refresh the water. I am for sure going back to get some more.
4. Watching all of the Harry Potter movies
I don’t know what it is with the colder weather and Harry Potter but I love watch all of the movies on repeat when the weather isn’t as good. I love to get all cosied up on the sofa with a soft blanket and a cup of hot chocolate and just watch Harry Potter!
5. Tiny new pots for my plants
I’ve had this Coffee quote mug in my cupboard for about a year because I couldn’t figure out what to use it for. It’s too tiny to drink coffee out of but I really love the design of it so I really wanted to use it somewhere. I finally realised I could use it as a little planter. I also bought this little feet pot on sale the other day and I can’t get over how adorable they both look!
6. Trip planning
Lately, as a distressing technique I have started planning holidays and it really takes the edge off. Especially when I have had a long difficult day, I think of the beautiful places I could go visit and the new cities I could go explore and it totally cheers me up.
7. Bringing more colour into my wardrobe
One of my resolutions was to bring more colour into my wardrobe. I wear way too much dark colours and mostly all black outfits. Seriously, I’ve been bored of my own clothing choices so I have been trying to incorporate more colour into my outfits. So far, I haven’t totally succeeded but I have bought some new fall coloured jumpers (as you can see in this post) and I am loving it!
I am a terrible baker, we all know that. But this is again an activity I more enjoy when the days get shorter and the weather gets colder. I love to experiment with baking and I have been trying out some new combinations. Hopefully they turn out okay so I can show them to you later!
9. My blogging friends
I am so grateful to have met so many amazing people through blogging, bloggers that I am honoured to call friends. They are always there for me when I need a little pick me up. They are always there to make me smile. It has brought me so much joy and I am so thankful!
10. JewelleryBox jewellery
Last but not least I wanted to show you my new jewellery bits! JewelleryBox was kind enough to send me some pieces of their collection and I am so happy and grateful for the opportunity. I have been trying to save money so I have not been buying any jewellery for the last year (YES! So long!) so when they asked me to pick some things out, I was overjoyed. I love rose gold (such a cliché, I know) so I got a set of rings and a bracelet.
After wearing them on and off for the past few months I can happily say I am in love and will definitely be buying some more myself. Most of their jewellery is really affordable too and it arrived in a cute little envelope. My favourite piece is the rose gold dipped infinity bracelet, I wear it with nearly every outfit as it goes with everything. There was one ring that gave off its colour after a few times of me wearing it but all the other jewellery is still fine after MONTHS of me testing it out!
And we are done with another 10 Things That make me smile list! The next one will be holiday related, so keep an eye out for that. And do tell me in the comment section below which things have made you smile lately!
DISCLAIMER: The products mentioned in number 10 of this post have been sent to me by JewelleryBox. However, all views and opinions are my own. I will always give my honest opinion and would never recommend anything that I do not love.
